Entry Fee:

Mt Bikers: $125.

Fee Includes:

Breakfast munchies, aid station food, post-race dinner meal ticket, t-shirt and festivities.

Registration:

Pick up your registration packets on Saturday, Saturday, September 24th, 2011, 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. under the tent in the Cunningham building of Ascutney Mt Resort, Brownsville VT. Participants must each pick up their own registration packets.  Photo ID is required to pick up packets.

NO REGISTRATION ON SUNDAY
Entrants must pre-register and pick up racer packets on Saturday.

Pre-Race Meeting:

Early morning on Sunday, September 25th, 2011

Meeting times:

50 Mile (Bike and Run): 5:15 a.m.

You must check in at pre-race meeting and give bib # in order to participate.

12 Hour Limit. Be prepared for a chilly and foggy morning start!

Aid Stations:

Ten stations throughout the 50 Mile course. Three aid stations will be accessible to handlers. The aid stations are well stocked with drinks and food. You won't go hungry!!

Note: Aid station close times are NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Aid station mileages posted here may change, depending on weather, trail problems, etc.

 

Post-Race Lunch:

Cookout served from approximately 12:00 - 6:00 PM (included in fee for racers).  This is not an all-you-can-eat buffet.  Please try to be considerate of others who finish later and are at least as hungry as you are.

Vendors will be available for selling lunch to spectators and families.

Pre-Race Dinner:

Saturday, September 24th, 2011. Spaghetti Dinner will be served, cost is $15 per person (Not included in entry fee and limited to 100 people per seating). The pre-race dinner will be Harvest Room in the main Hotell. There will be 3 seatings 5:00, 6:00 and 7:15.

Awards:

MT Bikers at 1:30 PM

Plaques and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall mt bikers, as well as the following:

Male and Female in each category and class

Categories:

  • Novice - entry level or first time competitor
  • Sport - intermediate competitor
  • Expert - very advanced competitor


Age Groups (age as of December 31st 2011):

Female Categories:

Junior - 18 and under
Senior - 19 to 39
Veteran - 40+

Male Categories :

Junior - up to 18
Senior - 19 to 29
Veteran I - 30 to 39
Veteran II - 40 to 49
Masters - 50+

All juniors will enter in the regular junior class that includes competitors up to age 18. In addition, for the Novice ability category only, special additional recognition will be given to the younger competitors, with a race season age of 14 or younger. These "Junior-Juniors" will receive top 3 medals for placement within this additional sub-category.

    Directions:

    Ascutney Mountain Resort is 10 miles from exit 8 or 9 off Interstate 91. Take Route 5 to Route 44. (From north, take Route 44A to Rt. 44). Located on Route 44. Take a left into the Resort, take the first right you will go past the fitness center, then look for Cunningham's Ski Barn on the left. The race registration is on the lower level in the rear of the building.

    Parking:

    Please park at the base lodge and walk down to the Cunningham Building. Please use parking lots only for parking!! To get to the parking lot when turning off Route 44 continue straight (do not take turn). The parking lot will be on your right. If you park on the grass you will be towed!

    Refund Policy:

    Refunds will be available until August 31st 2011, but not after that date, no exceptions. We will refund $40 as well as fees for any pre-paid meals and T-shirts.

     

    RACING REGULATIONS
    Vermont 50 Mt Biking

    (Adopted from old EFTA Rules)

    1. Racers shall complete the entire event, and complete it on the same bicycle upon which the event was begun.

    2. All repairs during the event shall be performed by the individual racer only. No outside help or assistance is permitted.

    3. All spare parts and tools shall be carried by the individual racer (cannibalizing other bikes is not permitted).

    4. Racers riding bikes have the right of way over racers walking bikes. BUT, YOU MUST WARN RUNNERS THAT YOU ARE APPROACHING THEM AND STATE WHICH SIDE YOU ARE ABOUT TO PASS THEM ON. When practical, bikers walking bikes should stay on the least redeemable section of the course, when being passed.

    5. Short-cutting and/or cutting trail switchbacks shall result in disqualification.

    6. Unsportsmanlike behavior and/or the use of profane language are grounds for warning, relegation, or disqualification. The penalty imposed shall be determined by the race director.

    7. All local laws, rules and ordinances shall be observed during the participation in the Vermont 50 event.

    8. A racer may be suspended from the Vermont 50 for up to two years for damaging or destroying public and/or private property.

    9. Protests can be made by any registered participant of the Vermont 50. The participant shall file the protest in writing with the Race Director or race official if the RD is not available. The protest period is immediately following the race and up to 15 minutes following the posting of the complete results for his/her class.

    10. The Vermont 50 Race Director will make the final decision regarding any occurrence during the event.

    11. No headphones or other devices that may prevent you from hearing cars, mt bikers, runners, etc. will be permitted while participating in this event.
